Janpen Oxley, 38, nicknamed Sarah, the wife of Darren Oxley, who

property business, had commissioned the attacks on a retired former U.S. Marine

The hits took place in the Thai resort of Hua Hin, 120
miles south west of Bangkok, where Whiting had bought a retirement home from
Darren Oxley’s company, Oxley Homes.

At the time Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva demanded a
speedy resolution to the case . Shortly after the ‘hit’ Janpen Oxley was

Yuthana was also handed a life sentence together with Ek-anand Jitmahima, at Prachuap Khiri

Janpen Oxley has remained on bail ever since the incident.
She spent her life with Darren Oxley commuting between the family mansion in
Hua Hin and an apartment in Bangkok.

In 2001 nine of his associates were jailed for a total of 60
years at Sheffield Crown Court for

In the court it was claimed Oxley was the ringleader of the
operation and his crew had “lived in fear” of him. He was described
as “violent” and “not a man you mess with” who had made
considerable amounts of money.

But Oxley, now 46, who stood in the dock with them, was now nowhere
to be seen when it came to sentencing.

He never bothered to hang around.
After skipping bail he settled in the Thai resort of Hua Hin
where he built a mansion, bought a Lamborghini, Bentley and Range Rover and married

Dolly Samson, 66, Donald Whiting’s wife and Rector of

Earlier Donald had angrily stated:
“The only person I had a
row with was Darren Oxley. He was
threatening me. He told me some harm could come to me. I could prove he was
cheating me and was due in court the day after the shooting to testify against
him.
“Sure his wife is guilty but I am sure she would never
have ordered my shooting without her husband’s say so. Foreign builders and estate agents have been
holding expatriates to ransom in Hua Hin.
Many have lost their live savings because of scams.
“How can this Briton Darren Oxley even be allowed to live in
Thailand? I have written to the Crown Prosecution Service and police and get
nothing from them. The British Embassy will tell me nothing.”

Thailand has a significant community from Sheffield. This man Craig Allen was jailed this year for 20 years. The court heard he ran an international drugs dealing ring from Thailand.
COMMENT: Darren Oxley was never implicated in these hits – only by Donald Whiting and Dolly Samson who knew that they had never had problems with Sarah, but only with Oxley himself. The petrol bombing also coincidentally followed a critical thread on Oxley on a web forum called ‘Monsters and Critics’ to which Don Whiting had contributed.
The investigation and trial have ruled that ‘Sarah’ acted totally on her own bat. But many foreigners down in Hua Hin, where another community of dubious Brits have set up some ‘nice little earners’ are not feeling totally comfortable with the changing face of the community. Many have arrived to get away from Pattaya.
Hua Hin in one of Thailands most peaceful resort cities which also hosts the King of Thailand’s summer palace called: ‘Far from Worries’. But worryingly for a price just about anybody can live there. Meanwhile Donald Whiting still wants to know why Briton did not extradite Oxley back to face trial and sentencing. It seems if dubious deals are done in Thailand, they are done in the UK too. That’s certainly the view of at least one of his cohorts who went down.

Wow, I was just speaking to this guy the other day! His daughter goes to my school.
As I understand it, Oxley has been charged and convicted. There is no mention however of him being sentenced in absentia which would have been the normal course for those who abscond after conviction. It really is quite extraordinary the Nritish embassy cannot comment upon why they have not sought to have this man returned to the UK. It is not good enough to simply keep silent. British tax payers residing here lawfully who have lived blameless lives deserve rather better than this. Andrew, surely this is deserving of a story in itself hung upon the hook of Mrs Oxley's conviction and is worthy of wider publication both here in Thailand and the UK.

Following the long pommy tradition of dumping all their scumbags offshore to let some other country take care of the problem. If I was Donald I'd be filthy knowing the Brits have let this violent crim loose to run amok here. I wonder if Oxley ratted out his gang and did a deal for himself with the coppers so he could run. Maybe he can't go back to the UK because he's a snitch. His cosy relationship here with the Thai filth shows he knows how to play the game. If someone paid these people to shoot Donald over a water bill dispute it reveals a coward, a dangerous lunatic who shouldn't be walking free.
If he's not a snitch and has been convicted, why hasn't he been arrested and extradited like Whacky was? We all want to know as well Donald.
The procedure in supergrass cases is that the informant provides his evidence and is then dealt with by the courts. Due account of cooperation is obviously made when he is sentenced for his crimes. That way his testimony in later hearings is not tainted by allegations it was only given in return for an easier ride. Informant evidence is notoriously difficult to convict for this reason but that situation does not arise in Oxley's case. He did not give evidence against his co-accused. There is the possibility that a clandestine deal was struck with West Yorks police that in return for information provided by him to ensure a successful operation netting his gang he would be permitted to leave the UK and enjoy the fruits of his crimes. He had evidently enjoyed Thailand before his arrest and was able to settle in Hua Hin with his wife under the protection of the police there. But this strikes me as odd. Police intelligence leading to the operation was gathered over many months of surveillance and through this they would have been able to target Oxley's dealers and follow the money trail. Any inside " grass " info would have come from the lower echelons and helped to join dots in any lacunae. The whole point of the operation was to target Oxley primarily, and then his foot soldiers. Frankly, he as a supergrass makes no sense unless of course he was able to provide information about the suppliers and importers who provided the merchandise dealt by Oxley through his gang at the various night clubs. If this were right then those targets would have almost certainly killed him by now – he is a public figure around Bangkok and Hua Hin and as such it would pose no logistical problem to those keen on retribution.
The only other scenarios explaining his freedom are either incompetence, Thai obstruction or corruption among the British authorities.
Can't quite believe the British could be that incompetent as to be unable to execute a warrant by liaising with the Thai who could have simply returned him under their immigration law since he was demonstrably a fugitive from justice. So did they try but were thwarted by Hua Hin/ Bangkok police? If so, why not say so. No shame in that surely, even for the British or were they sparing the blushes of their Thai hosts and didn't want to rock the diplomatic boat? Or was it a bent deal with the local Sheffield police? Doesn't seem right that given the nature of the operation. Buying off an entire operation mounted to target the kingpin isn't something one would consider credible, even for, say, the Met and they certainly know how to be bent.
No, it's either some diplomatic quid pro quo and the local police in Hua Hin proved too dominant or a deal was done in return for Oxley grassing up his Dutch/ Scouse/ Spanish/Irish suppliers.
No request has been made for extradition. One view is this. He was never going to go down in the UK. But he was put on trial and described, well, pretty much as the boss and a man to be feared. By implication everything said about him also reflected on his co-defendants whom the court accepted were his honchos. His very presence would have helped the general case against his associates.
