The American publisher of the now defunct Pattaya Times newspaper picked on British journalist Andrew Drummond because he was worried about the wrong exposure on the internet – a witness told Bangkok Criminal Court today.

Drew Walter Noyes, 60, and his common law wife Wanrapa Boonsu, had their story published in ‘The Nation’ and ‘Thai Rath’ newspapers when they were arrested for extortion of a clinic in Pattaya, but Noyes took no action against them.
However he issued a series of libel writs against Drummond, who was prying more deeply into his business, said Kanokrat Nimsamoot.
“Drummond is an investigative journalist who has been able to help people in Thailand. But he has conducted investigations which have resulted in foreign criminals being investigated and sent home.

“I met him when I myself was dealing with the British Immigration Authorities and the European Parliament and he was able to help me. We have been able to help each other since,” she added.
“He does a lot of investigations into foreign criminals.”
Ms. Nimsamoot was giving evidence in a case in which Andrew Drummond is suing the Pattaya Times Media Corporation, Wanrapa Boonsu, and Drew Walter Noyes, for falsely claiming that his press credentials in Thailand had been withdrawn as he was in the Thai courts on a charge of criminal libel.
The criminal libel charges and Computer Crime Act charges against him were subsequently thrown out by Pattaya Provincial Court.

They also failed to publish a statement from the Public Relations Department that Andrew Drummond’s credentials were valid.
Counsel for Noyes and Boonsu asked if he had seen the records of the Department of Business Development which no longer showed Drew Noyes name and also asked “Did you not read this which says that all copyright of the Pattaya Times was the property of the Aladdin Group?”
Drummond: “Indeed I did. It’s nonsense. First I am a journalist I have checked all records of the Pattaya Times. He frequently changes directors. As for the Aladdin Group, nobody can find it. And the copyright cannot be assigned just like that. Drew Noyes and Wanrapa Boonsu were totally responsible for the content of the Pattaya Media Corporation.”
Asked about a photo-shopped picture of Drew Noyes and Brian Goudie in a gay parade picturing Drew Noyes as ‘a katoey’ (gay) Drummond replied. “Firstly that is not my picture.
“Secondly it is in the story because the article is about Drew Noyes suing a foreigner who, he claimed, published it, and thirdly there is nothing in the story that says he is gay, indeed there is a picture of him with a woman.”
Asked about other pictures of Noyes and Goudie as Batman and Robin, and Noyes as a radio DJ Drummond replied: ‘Noyes has claimed he was a famous personality on PBS in America with his own programme. Noyes and Goudie work together. People want to know who they really are. As Noyes has a history in America, so they send me in photos of them in imaginary situations.
“I have written many stories about Drew Noyes they are usually after complaints about him from foreigners.”
The case was adjourned until March 18th when a decision to accept the case or not will be given.

Couple of things….what is in the water down in Pattaya…is Drew really 60yo…he looks much younger.
And that photo of Goldie in his tights at the gay parade…any chance of getting a copy of that or 3 sent to the prison where he is on holiday and passed around the boys inside ?
I think you might be right – maybe 59 – let me check. Its an old picture. Goudie is out now but I welcome any new pictures of his hair style.
Noyes may well be scared when faced with challenges such as the para drop debacle where he got his 'wings'. I've got friends in Pattaya who are happy to give him a real parachute drop from 10,000ft if he is up for the challenge.
Meanwhile can I ask how theses scammers can do business and get visa's i Thailand?
Goldie can't be that hard to find…he's been blogging furiously since his release and I now hear he has a fan club at Nong Plalai Prison. Seemingly he's their new "pin up"!
