The Simon Wiesenthal Center is calling on Thailand’s Christian leaders to condemn a Nazi parade at the Sacred Heart Preparatory School in Chiang Mai led by students who participated in a Nazi parade replete with Seig Heil salutes.

The march started on the school grounds and continued into the streets of the adjoining neighborhood. 
‘Disgusted parents and outraged members of the public forwarded to us the visuals of a Nazi parade at the Sacred Heart School, the second such incident since 2007, involving the veneration of Nazism at a Thai school,’ charged Rabbi Abraham Cooper associate dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, a Jewish human rights NGO.
‘It is difficult to calculate the hurt such a display inflicted on survivors of the Nazi Holocaust and the families of all victims of Nazism. There can be no justification for such an outrage to emanate from place of learning,’ he said.
And the school did not know?
‘The Nazis were responsible for the Holocaust, history’s worst crime, and had they prevailed during World War II, their racist ideology would have eventually targeted all races the Nazis deemed ‘inferior’, including Asians,’ Rabbi Cooper added.
‘From the visual evidence, it is clear that this Nazi celebration could not have taken place without the knowledge and cooperation of the school administration. 
Can anyone recognise these guys? The teachers?
The Simon Wiesenthal Center urges that those ultimately responsible for a school calling itself ‘Christian’, take immediate action against all those responsible for promoting and facilitating this disgraceful display. It is important that the pedagogical decisions at Sacred Heart be put in the hands of people who themselves know right from wrong,’ Cooper added.
‘If and when an administration is put in place at Sacred Heart that is committed to teaching ethics and history, our Center is prepared to provide the materials that will educate the faculty and student body about the Nazi mass murder of 6 million Jews, including 1.5 million children, gypsies and other innocent victims,’ Cooper concluded.
Rabbi Cooper, a frequent visitor to Asia, added that a similar parade took place in 2007 at a school in Bangkok involving 200 students and more recently, ‘Slur’, a rock ban donned Nazi uniforms and swastikas in a music video.
Comment: They do not look like prep school students to me.

The Rabbi is ill informed about Thailand, there is no such thing as veneration of Nazism, it is total ignorance on the part of the Thais what ever happened in other parts of the world. They most probably have seen some old footage of WWII and decided it to be the theme for this years parade. They do not teach Thailand's position in WWII either.
If people want to dress as Nazis, no matter how tasteless it may be viewed-or how ignorant they may be, it is certainly within their rights within their own country. At least for now.
How about they all get shown 'Schindlers list' as a topic or even some of the epic struggles in the Warsaw Ghettoes?
I'm sure these kids don't understand what's behind the obscene symbols displayed!
Education has never been a strongpoint here!

Sir Lance, sorry, obscene symbols such as the Swastika? This symbol is thousands of years old and visible in many Buddhist temples. It was hijacked by Adolf. That the school administration didn't know seems very odd to say the least.
Please stop using the old 'it's an ancient symbol for good luck' excuse. Firstly that symbol is not turned at 45 degrees. Secondly it's quite clear the context in which it is being used and it isn't good luck.
I've been teaching in Thailand for 6 years. Prior to a sports day event, students would have been painting and preparing those large Nazi banners where teachers, administrators and other students would have seen them. They would also have been practicing their marching and seig-heiling publicly. It is disingenuous to say that the large display was a 'secret,' but this is more about saving face for the ignorant teachers and administrators at that school. In Thailand, saving face is more important than acknowledging the egregious mistake Sacred Heart School committed by staging a Nazi parade. If there is any consolation here, it is that Thai people have no concept of Nazism or Judaism. Most Thais would look at you blankly if you said you were Jewish, and most Thais never heard of Israel. However, Thais DO love to dress up in colorful costumes and sing a song, so wearing swastikas, goose-stepping and seig heiling are 'sanook' or fun activities for thais. Don't be angry at Thai people or Thai staff for allowing this Nazi parade. The fact is, Thais wouldn't understand ""Schindler's List"" any more than ""Hogan's Heroes"" or ""The Producers,"" but if they think a red and black swastika makes a pretty design on a t-shirt, they're going to buy it.
Sending my half-Thai son to school in the UK after three years in the Thai 'education' system was a no brainer and ranks as one of the best moves I've ever made. It's all too easy to put this shameful display down to ignorance. I'm not so sure sheer stupidity is an excuse. It wears thin. A huge amount of effort and detail went into this sick parade.
Actually, looking a little more closely at the painted banner of the caricatures, it is obviously meant to be satirical.

actually this has to be the strangest thing I've ever seen in Thailand. I cannot believe these girls really know what they are doing. As to the swastika and people should remember the original symbol was the opposite-the Nazis turned it around. there are still buildings in many major cities thoughout Europe that carry the symbol as part of their decor long before that horrible mob stole it. The Simon Wiesenthal Center is a very honourable institution but it's over-reacted this time.
Lennon? or Lenin? I see the entire fiasco as a Thai style satirical statement on war and obsession with fame..? Yeah,..that's it.
